What is Zika? Zika is a virus that is commonly transmitted by mosquitoes and ticks. Infection can lead to fever, rash, joint pain and pink eyes. There is a risk with Zika infection in pregnant women as it can cause serious problems to the baby. History of Zika This virus was originally found in the Zika forest of Uganda in 1947. Since then there have been outbreaks in 2007, 2013 and most notably in Brazil in 2015.
